Leadership Columbiana County held its 2012 graduation ceremony and dinner on May 9, 2012 at the Salem Golf Club. The non-profit organization recognized ten individuals who completed a nine month program that built leadership skills through classroom and hands-on experiences. Former State Senator Jason Wilson, now Director of the Governor’s Office of Appalachia spoke at the dinner in their honor. Companies and organizations throughout the county nominated student participants who learned about different aspects of Columbiana County such as industry, government, education, healthcare and education. The participants also completed a class project, a Healthy Kids Fair in conjunction with the Calcutta YMCA. Many of the skills learned in the LCC classes such as project management, interpersonal communication, team building and goal setting were utilized during the planning of the project.
